The way royai have a significant power difference within the strict hierarchy of the military is already juicy. Commanding officer and subordinate relationships are supposed to be taboo. But it’s also iconic that both in manga and spinoffs that Roy shamelessly and openly flirts or teases Riza on the job, on occasion. I suppose it also works for Roy’s crafted reputation as an unserious skirt chaser. He uses his charms on pretty much everyone anyway so she is no exception. But Riza just mostly takes it aloofly or calmly, or disarms it with her own comeback. This is her commanding officer after all. Stop it, sir, this is not the time :| (She must be so pent up and frustrated kskfjgjjk)

Another week, another WIP Wednesday! Still working on my de-aged Tim fic, but I also have a fic that i banged out over 3k in two days? So there's a snippet of that as well (that fic's premise is most of the family finding out for the first time that Tim is immunocompromised, currently titled Tim's Spleen)

De-aged Tim

That seemed to do the trick because Tim nodded, though his eyes went distant in thought. The kid probably had a thousand questions, and was trying to figure out what order to ask them in. "Did my parents die?" he finally asked, and Jason's jaw dropped a bit. He then explained his thinking, "I mean, earlier you seemed surprised by the fact my parents went on trips a lot and I don't think my parents would stop traveling unless they had to, so either the company went under or they died. And I'm staying here, and Dick said it was my room not a guest room or something, so I probably live here, or at least did for a bit. The room seemed a little too clean for me to have been living here, but I'm an adult now, right? So I probably moved out, but I definitely did live here based on the pictures and stuff in the room. My parents dying is the only way it makes sense to me." Jason's jaw was just about on the floor from the kid's deductive reasoning.

Tim's Spleen

Tim's grip on the handlebars tightened again. "I knew it was serious," he murmured. Losing an organ, especially one vital to the immune system, was a big deal for a vigilante. It was important that his doctors and team know. "I've spoken with Leslie and Alfred about it. I just assumed at least Bruce and Dick had read the report."

Barbara sighed, and Tim could just imagine her pushing her glasses up to rub her face. "Dick's always been awful about reading reports," she said after a moment. Neither of them said anything about Bruce. What was there to say? The man was usually diligent about reports, this was an anomaly.

Game Lysandre who spends the entire game being creepy to everyone in sight only to do nothing noteworthy vs Anime Lysandre who only shows up in person for like three episodes and then once everyone including the viewer forgets that he exists, he immediately causes a major cataclysm, crucifies Ash Ketchum, fakes his suicide on screen and tries to awaken a dormant god of balance, only to be put to death by the vaguely annoying small child character and the eldritch deity she calls “Squishy”.

"Ezra, what are you doing?"

Her partner in preventing crime (and occasional partner in actual crime---they may or may not have broken into a house once; no one could prove anything) had stopped in the middle of the grim alleyway, staring at nothing in particular.

"Sabine..." he said slowly. "I think this is where I met you."

Sabine did a double-take, looking around with keen eyes. The place didn't seem familiar, but she'd been so distracted on that day, she probably wouldn't know it if she was there.

"Is it?" she asked, strolling back to him, hiking up her long skirt and stepping cautiously around the filth on the ground. "You think so?"

"Mm-hm." A nostalgic smile twitched at the corner of his mouth. "You know, I've still got the handkerchief you gave me."

Sabine grinned at him. "Of course you do. You were in the throes of violent yearning. You couldn't bear to part with it."

"And my nose was still bleeding."

"That too."

"And if you recall, I did try to give it back to you---later." His smile grew proud. "Tracked you down with just your monogram and a glimpse at your face. First bit of detecting I ever did."

Sabine slipped her arm through his, hopping lightly over something that could have been a filthy rag or maybe the carcass of a large rat, as they continued on their trek towards home. The streets cleared up when they got to the main roads, but there was still the inevitable splash of mud.

Mud was everywhere in London.

"I thought you might have been a princess when I saw you on the stairs then," he blurted out, and she tilted her head up to look at him from beneath the brim of her large flowered hat. He gave her a sweetly bashful smile and a shrug. "With those big white puffs in your hair---"

"Ostrich feathers," she filled in automatically, turning her attention back to the pavement and nodding politely to a gentleman and lady who passed by them.

"---and that white dress, too." Ezra laughed to himself. "Golly, you're lucky you kept it. Your old lady wasn't gonna give you a nickel for another one."

Sabine squeezed his arm affectionately. "I could have worn any dress."

"Well, no one would have thought it was a proper wedding if we hadn't got you in white."

"No one thought it was a proper wedding when we did," she retorted. "They thought I was degrading myself."

"Then the joke is on them, because I hit the big time pretty well, didn't I?"

Sabine arched an eyebrow. "You wouldn't have amounted to anything if I hadn't got us into the illustrated papers."

Ezra paused on the pavement as they reached the steps of their lodgings, looking thoughtful.

"You're right. I wouldn't have."

"Then it seems you're lucky you've got me."

He looked right into her eyes and grinned boyishly, slipping into his most intolerably trans-Atlantic accent. "We do make a pretty bang-up team, don't we?"

"A jolly good one," she nodded in prim agreement, adopting an obnoxiously posh tone, and they both giggled, smiling at each other for a moment more before a distant clock chimed the quarter of the hour, reminding them that they were on a schedule.

"Well, I suppose we had best go on in. Our client will be here any minute now."

"I guess so."

And with that, the unstoppable team of Bridger and Bridger ascended the steps of their home at 221b Spectre Street, arm-in-arm.

Thinking about 911 and Oliver teasing developments in Bucks life, and I know life developments aren’t just about love/personal life, but the more I think about this show they don’t really progress professionally.

Like, Maddie left dispatch then came back, Eddie left FOR dispatch then came back, Hen was going to be a doctor, but then decided to stay, Bobby retired, un-retired, worked on a TV show, then came back to the 118, Buck was fire marshal for like a day, and Chimney went looking for Maddie in Boston and was a volunteer medic then came back.

And I know the reason is because they’re an ensemble and they belong together, that’s the core of the show.

To me this means not to expect any real advancement professionally.

If they had a storyline for Buck that was maybe he gets an opportunity to advance and be captain at another firehouse or something I wouldn’t expect it to last because he’s a core member of the 118 and would inevitably end up back there.

I do think if they went with a “Buck and Tommy move in together” storyline, it would be a significant move for Buck. We saw Buck move into Abby’s after she left but that was to watch her place for her until she came back, and we saw him ask Taylor to move in because he panicked over kissing Lucy. Both of those were more about him clinging to something he was afraid to lose and not him actually wanting to commit to a relationship. If he and Tommy have a discussion about moving in and they make that decision together, it would be because they both want it and want to move their relationship forward. That, to me, is significant and a big difference in Bucks personal life. Plus it hammers home the whole “Buck is off the hamster wheel” storyline that they were so adamant about last season.

What are some of your favorite character relationships/dynamics in TMNT, and why? Is there anything that you particularly like seeing explored with them in fan works (art, writing, comics, etc)?

Oh man, theres so many dynamics I like!

Let's see...

Well. I guess first off, I love the dynamics between all four brothers as a whole! When one gets separated off, both sides work so hard to get back to the other(s). Doesnt matter who it is, its "gotta get back to them" "gotta bring him home". They love each other so much and would do anything for any one of them. Any one of them would probably sacrifice himself to save the rest of his brothers of he thought it was the only way (some more likely to do that than others *coughleocough*), meanwhile the rest of the brothers would be like "uh no. Stop that shit right now. You're not allowed to die". I just love how dedicated they all are to each other and the ends they're willing to go to to keep each other safe.

A little more specifically, I like Leo and Raph's dynamic/relationship. They're like two sides of the same coin. They're so similar, but their methods/approaches to situations are a little different so they end up clashing a lot. But like I said before, they love each other would do anything for each other. No matter the iteration, and how big/bad of a fight they've had, they're always gonna have each other's backs.

Like, for example, in the 2003 series, one of the few times they actually clashed angrily (and not just momentary sibling bickering) was in season 2, the 3 part episode arc "City at War". During that time they've defeated(or so they think) the shredder, and differnt gangs are fighting over who gets control of the parts of the city that the foot used to control. Leo and Raph argue about whether or not they have a responsibility to stop the gangs from taking over the city.

At one point during their arguing (and fighting other gangs) Raph crashes a bus and gets trapped in it, and fire is about to light the leaked-all-over fuel. Leo immediately jumps into the over turned bus to get his brother out while they're still arguing!

Like!!! Its truly a moment showing their dynamic. It's one of the few times they're really pissed at each other because they cant agree on what they should be doing, and they're pissed at the actions the other is taking, but when there's danger, they're going to run in and save the other! It's not even a question. Saving each other/having the other's back is such a part of who they are, that not even their biggest fight can (which is still going!) can stop them from helping each other.

(And sometimes the dynamic between Leo and raph kinda feels like the relationship me and my sister have. We annoy each other and can get on each others nerves. Or one of us assumes the other is mad and gets upset when it was actually fine. Sometimes my sister is in a mood and I have to be careful how I approach her or ask her a question otherwise she snaps. And I can see it being like that for Leo when Raph is in a mood. ((And that goes vice versa)) Its common across many iterations for Raph to think Leo is too rule-abiding, and Leo thinks Raph is too impulsive/hot-headed, and that feels like very familar arguments between me and my sister lol)

I also like the dynamics between April and the turtles, and how she's their friend/sister. And how she'll do just about anything for them and vice versa just like how the brothers are to each other.

As for fanworks, I guess I like anything that really shows how close and important they all are to each other. Whether that's whump fics where they rescue/take care of each other, or art of them in a sleepy turtle pile.

Honestly anything that just shows how much they all love each other, whether is mundane or high stakes situations, is really nice. :)
